Hello Nick and family, I'm sending this short note to let you know you are still in my thoughts and prayers. We've had a pretty rough Winter here in Chicago, but Spring weather is just around the corner:)I just viewed all your photos yesterday (have just recently been back on the 'puter scene)and am so happy to see you are up and about. Looks like you're having a good time with your friends & family while you are still on the recovery road. I know our Heavenly Father has His hands upon your healing. Blessings to all of you and grace be unto one and all of your entire family & friendships. I am Rebekah Kneal~~~~older sister to Christina Horn, R.N. Supervisor at Valley Hospital, Spokane,Wa.; Auntie Becky to Dustin DuRoy Horn - now attending Walla Walla University and currently elected Executive Vice President of his class:)Please remember us all, also, in your prayers as we all journey towards "the prize" as Paul wrote in his letters to the Corinthians.

There is a season and time for everything. May this season and time in your families life be the light for encouragement of others dealing with overwhelming change. Nothing is permanent or without hope when our foundation is Jesus, as your situation shows. God's goodness is made perfect in our weak and limited condtions. My prayers will be for God to give you the grace, discernment, and focus find His new 'assignment' for your future. Hugs and prayers- S Braithwaite

Hey Nick and Maniscalco family,

I am always touched when I get your updates on how Nick is progressing. Each time at the end of an update, I am left being inspired by his strength, energy, motivation, and will-power. I am sure there must be down times but keep working steadily for your goals. Don't ever give up. What inspires me the most when I read the updates is your family's trust and strength you find in God- seeing where Nick has been and where God is taking him. I feel the spiritual depth in the updates that are written. God has you on an amazing journey one that is definitely leaving me inspired. Thank you- Dustin Billington

A belated Happy Birthday, Nick.  We were at the Pathfinder Camporee at the time of your birthday.  We are area coordinators for Michigan, so we were there to help get ready and then to take down afterwards.  I say "we".  I didn't do much with my physical handicap but my husband worked hard.  We had a great time.  I keep having setbacks in my recovery from my stroke I had over two years ago. but I haven't given up.  God is good!  Prayers are the answer to all our needs!  I pray for you daily. Keep up your courage and your hard work!
The Lord bless you and your family.

We check almost weekly for your updates, and praise God daily for your continuing progress. We continue to hold you up before Him.  He is using you for His glory.  How exciting is that?

Your family is awesome for their faith, support and continuing example of leaning on Jesus in trials.  Thank you for encouraging us despite the difficulties you have all been through.  We pray God to continue to make you strong and you continue to improve.

Hey Nick

It makes my day when I read about your enthusiasm. That is awesome and exciting! Amen? And I know that a lot of Pathfinder kids have been touched through what you've said. I still count myself as one of them, secretly.   :)
God is working in this earth. Thank you for being willing to show this for God.
I'll see you in heaven, I know!

Hello Nick and family,
It was great to see you at Teen Mission Adventure with your smile and your commitment to Jesus. It was great to see you using your arms so well to gesture so freely during your talk.  I thought back to when we visited you in the hospital at Walla Walla and your arms were so tight with excessive tone.  God is good. God is doing great things in your life and the work is still in progress.  You are an inspiration to us.  Keep up that walking and we would like to take a walk with you on the streets of gold.  For worship tonight we are praying for you and your continued recovery.

Love and prayers,
Swena Family

Nick-

Hey Bro- its been more than a year since that day we went snowboarding, and it really sucked that when i got back from Hawaii, i thought you were a "turd" for not getting back to me about going up again.  I wish I would have come looking for you sooner; but  since I found out about you, and went to go see you in the hospital, I've been coming to this site.  I've kept my eye on you.  Your Mom and Dad have done a great job taking care of you.  I can't imagine what it must have taken to sit beside You and wait for God.  Thank You.  Nick- I want to hear about whats going on, from your side.  I want to know what you, personaly are dealing with.  I want updates signed, -Nick.  You're a long way from the start line, and I think its time to steer.

Dear Nick and family,
I've been checking your website practically daily to stay up to date on you.  I just noticed the video of your testimony and your mother's testimony.  Now I realise we have more connection than just through the Gilberts.  Even though, Debby, you didn't mention Brad's name I knew that was who you were talking about.  Brad and Cathy were very dear to us.  Cathy prepared our daughter for baptism.  Kim will be thrilled to hear that we have made connection with Brad's family.  Just so sorry that it has been in this way.  Nick, you are still in my morning and evening prayers.  I pray for your cpmplete heaing if that is God's will.  You are so special. Just continue to rememer that!  I sat hrtr and cried through the whole testimonies.  I suppose I relate to your experience more since I'm going through my stroke recovery.  I know it is slow but the progress is there.  Takes time.  Courage to you and your family.  God continue to bless you and your family!
My love and prayers.

Dear Nick, What a joy to read today the update on all of your improvements and accomplishments!! I am so, so happy to hear of all the different ways you are using and strengthening your muscles. To our Father, Yahweh, be all the glory:) He is the Omnipotent One...the Master Physcian indeed. Truly His loving healing hands have been so obviously guarding and guiding the progress of your amazing recovery. Your auto accident was kind of like a major detour on the road of your life's journey, but may you be encouraged as you travel THIS road back to good health. "For everything there is a time and a season..." and it seems like there is a definite new life with new purpose that awaits you at the end of this detour! Blessings to you and your wonderful family from Rebekah Kneal in Chicago, IL. (I am the sister of Chris Horn, Post Falls, ID and Aunt to their son, Dustin D. I'm sorry you don't feel well, compared to other days. And I know that I can't understand what you go through exactly, and I don't even know what to say to you, but hugs, prayers, donations, and loads of love go out to you. Dear Heavenly Father, i come before You to ask for comfort for Marlene and the Maniscalco during this sad and difficult time.  The loss of a husband, father, grandfather, is a hard time.  This family knows of Your healing power, comfort, and strength, and i ask that You let them feel Your presence.  Also Lord, let them feel the comfort of their church family.  Thank You so much for dying on the cross for us. Thank You for your love.  Amen

Be with this special family in their time of need. Give Nick the healing and strength to be restored to the vitality you have designed for him. Give his parents the courage and strength they need and his doctors the wisdom they need to proceed with his treatment.

Happy Monday morning to you!

What great news to hear that Nick is standing. I was just talking to a doctor yesterday who had seen Nick's CT brain scan. I gave him the update on Nick and he was totally shocked and amazed at how far Nick has progressed. God is good, isn't He! When our family comes North again, maybe around Thanksgiving, we'll give you a call. We would love to come by for a visit and to re-count God's blessings. You continue to be in our prayers. Give Nick a big hug for us all.

Dear Lord, From our family to Nick and his family may you surround them with your love and blanket them with the comfort of knowing that you are always with them lifting them up. Let them find peace in the quiet moments, joy and laughter with friends and family. As we have seen the great work you have accomplished in Nick already give them the confidence to know that his future is bright wherever it may take him. A child shall lead them and so it is. Let us all learn from Nick what the power of prayer can do. "Faith is not demanding what we want; it is trusting God's goodness in spite of life's tragedies." Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Linda

Hi, Nick and family --
Sorry I missed your birthday.  We were out of town.  I've been keeping up on your progress.  I can relate to your "impatience" that things don't progress fast enough.  I had a stroke a year ago in May.  I've come a long way. but still a ways to go.  You are in my prayers along with my four children and their families.  Keep up with your good work on your therapy.  Many prayers are going up on your behalf.

Dear Lord ---
Continue to heal Nick we pray.  Give him the courage he needs right now. Be with his family, also.  Give them the physical and emotional strength they need to help Nick.  We
thank You for hearing and answering our prayers.

Hi, Guy, Nick, Debbie, and the rest of the clan. I continue to be moved and shaken by your testimony. The Holy Spirit is doing healing work in Nick's body and in the spirit of so many onlookers like me through your family. My prayers for Nick and y'all continue--I pray for renewed focus of purpose in all this, for the transcendence of God's love to continue to amaze and inspire you and us through you, for Nick's body to keep progressing, and for Christ's kingdom to come soon but also be among us now in our hearts and actions. Dear Nick and family,

We continue to pray daily for your speedy recovery.  Thank God the operation went well and you are improving.  We want you to know that you and your family have been the examples that Christ wants us to be to others.  Not complaining, but rejoicing in the trials that God gives and knowing it makes us stronger.

Each one of you have shown us all that adversity can be conquered by Christ in whom we can do ALL things, whether they be hard or not.

We praise God for each one of you.  Thank you for being the modern day examples of what Christ can do in us.

We will continue to hold your family up in prayer and know that He will continue to work His miracle in your life Nick.

With prayers and love,

Laura Dick and her parents

Hey Nick, as soon as WWU was done with final exams, I had to quickly move down to La Sierra University here in Riverside, CA (LA/ San Diego area) as I am taking a year's worth of General Chemistry this summer. While I am bummed I wasn't able to visit before I left, I am still excited to hear of your increasing progress from day to day. I keep praying that God will continue to bless you and your family as you continue your rehab and recovery. My new friends down here at LSU saw the posters and the I Heart Nick shirts, and ever since hearing about you, they are also praying for you and asking how you are doing. I hope you had a great 4th of July. Stay strong, fight hard, and God's blessings upon you!

Hey Nick! This is your long lost 2nd(3rd?) Cousin Val.  I'm back in New Jersey, so it's sad I can't visit you.  But while I'm back here, floating on the waves, I'm thinking of you.  How someday you're gonna come back and learn to surf with me and Vinnie, right?  It's been a blessing meeting you and seeing how God has worked in your life.  Uncle Guy, Aunt Debbie, and Cousin Mel, please take care.  Being through a similar situation before, seeing you guys is a kind of Deja'vu.  It's a terrible time, but you guys are doing really well.  You know sometimes when you're in the Ocean and a massive (or Nick might say "Hardcore") wave comes up, towering over your head, you might say a quick little prayer in your head before this monster engulfs you.  But I'll be praying for you guys first.
Much Love -Cousin ValLang, Sea Isle City, NJ

Dear Lord, As I look through all these prayers for Nick from people who know him & people who don't, I'm amazed at what Your love and power and healing can do. I know You're all-powerful & love every last one of us to no end, and this shows me not even a glimpse, but wow Lord!! I know that You are healing Nick and when You heal him all up he will be a most POWERFUL witness to Your honor & glory!! Thank you Lord that Nick and his family love You, because without it, without You, who knows what would have happened. You have kept them all (and his friends) going strong, and I know You will continue to do that. Please give them (us) all faith & strength to continue trusting in You. Thank You and I love You, In Jesus' name, Amen.

Dear Maniscalco family,

I was just thinking about you and Nick's progress this morning (before I received the update - which I have followed since Nick's accident). I don't know Nick but have been praying for him since we first heard of his accident. I work here at Walla Walla University Girl's Dorm and want you to know how much I appreciate your updates. I follow them as if he were my own family member. It's great to hear of Nick's progress and I say a prayer for him each time I recieve them. I praise God for your courage and stammina, Guy and Debby. I know this can't be easy to keep us posted on Nick's progress, but I want to thank you for your them. They keep us reminded that God is very much alive and performing miracles and answers to prayers. I will continue to pray for Nick as well as you, his parents. I would say "God be with you", but He already is!

Nick,

I came across your website becaue I was searching for pictures of Lake Roosevelt.  My name is Bryan and I grew up on Lake Roosevelt.  It seems as though we might have shared a passion for wakeboarding on that beautiful lake.  I want to wish you the love and encouragement from a fellow rider who hurts for your pain.

I also noticed your accident took place on January 27.  That is my birthday.  I will forever remember that day not only as my birthday but as a time of prayer for you.  Stay strong Brother.

May our Father, watch over you with much love and healing during this difficult time in your life.  May he allow you to walk on the water as you once did.  May he allow your life and your story influence and touch the lives of people around the world.  And may he allow us to unite in Heaven with a boat and a couple of boards.  Father be with Nick to guide him, with in Nick to love him, in front of Nick to show him, behind Nick to guard him and above Nick to bless him.

I pray this in your beloved son's name.  Amen.

Nick, Guy, and Debby -

It was SUCH a blessing to see you all at UCA's grad on Sunday. What an incredible gift to those graduates, and what a wonderful testimony to the entire audience. Reading the updates is one thing, but seeing a miracle in the making right in front of your eyes is most certainly something we don't get every day. It was wonderful. Blessings and prayers on your continued recover. God is truly working here.

Nick, seeing you today at Upper Columbia Academy at the graduation ceremony was SO amazing!!! You and your family have been SUCH an awesome awesome awesome inspiration to every person who has heard your story. God is so tangible in your life that you can just feel His presence in each part of this beautiful story that he is revealing through you and your family.  Thank you so much for letting go and letting God.  I pray that He will continue to lift you up and heal you.

As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.
~ Psalm 138:3, NLT

nick we're praying for you in Tillamook, OR. i recently found out about your accident. i'm going through a stressful time and to hear about your successes makes it seem as if my difficulties can't compare. there are no words to describe how God has touched my life as result of your victories. i just want you to know that he is taking your life and doing amazing things with it. what more could we ask from God but that His power work in our lives to accomplish His will. one of my classmates said in a speech that the strongest people in our society are truly those that are somehow limited. i would never have been able to understand that except for your story. even though i have full use of my body, your life has more of God's strength and power in one day than perhaps i will ever experience.

-6/4/2008 4:12:35 PM

nick me and my family have been paying for your recovery for a long time. we just wish you will get better. i can't imagine what your family is going through but i just wanted you and your family to know that your family is in our prayers.

p.s. i'm buying one of your shirts to support you. brittney faul, richland washington

-6/3/2008 3:45:55 PM
What is really cool is that he is so positive about the whole situation and he completely trust God right now, and most peope have to admit that that is hard to do in that type of situation. Nick has already showed so many people how to trust God in any situation, he is truly a person we still need and the fact that his life was spared makes it more w onderful, he must be so hapy to heawr that everything wil be better after time. God Bless

Nick & family, So, so happy to read about all of  your improvements. Much glory and honor to Yahweh our Great Physcian...your wonderful accomplishments are for sure evidence that our Heavenly Father is STILL on the Throne!! Many thanks also to your many caregivers and your precious family for all the love and attention they are able to bestow upon you daily. Keep up the good work. I am continually praying for you here in Chicago everyday. Rebekah Kneal (aunt of Dustin D. Horn...will graduate this wknd from UCA)

Nick: God is Good! This past week I was talking with some friends of mine from my old public high school in Wisconsin. Apparently my friend Brittany is a member of armyofyouth.org, and early in February, she came across a post requesting prayer for you and your situation. I talked with her this past week, and she said that she and her friends, along with quite a number of my other friends in the public high schools back home, have been praying for you this entire time! Some even received "I-heart-Nick" shirts. They all send their hello's, support, and prayers to you!
I continue to pray for you and thank God for his continual blessings that He has bestowed upon you! You have always found a way to witness to others in all that you do, whether it's by your smile, laugh, or burning passion for God; He always has shown through you. We all thank you for the positive impact that you continue to have on our lives, and we continue to pray for God's loving hands to surround you and heal you. We love you Nick!

Nick! Last weekend was the UCC Pathfinder fair. It was a big blessing to have your dad and sister share the miracles and how God is answering our prayers. When your dad talked to you on the cell phone in front of the over 800 Pathfinders, it was so good to hear your voice and know the testimony of God's healing power you shared with us. You know by the claping and cheering, that UCC Pathfinders love you and are still praying for you Nick.

Hang in there at St. Luke's rehab, and work hard, I know God will keep healing you... your old pathfinder friend,

Mitch Swena

Dear Friends,

Praise the LORD for all miracles, small or large, we are thankful that Nick has been transferred to St. Luke's...always watching for news on him, & the miracles GOD keeps giving....sometimes we are looking for large miracles we overlook the small things, like sight, speech, movement, etc....for when we look beyond ourselves, we see others worse off than us...what a wonderful GOD, HE never forsakes us, & I pray changes in Nick will draw many people to HIM....May GOD always be glorified...each day brings HIS return closer.....What a glorious day that will be...In the meantime we lift Nick in prayer....Thank you, LORD for loving us...GOD Bless each & everyone who believes....Wanda & Jerry

My praises arise with yours for the blessings that continue to be heaped upon your family! I am thankful for your updates, even though progress has been slow, as it lets me know what to continue to pray for. God has promised to meet our every need. He is faithful and will do it! He still has a purpose for Nick and I believe that many hearts will continue to be touched through him. May God bless you all with wisdom to know His will and the courage to do it!

Hey God! I wrote you a prayer from this site a few months ago and I thought it was about time that I did so again. I got to talk to Nick on the phone with about a thousand other pathfinders this last saturday. I am not a pathfinder, but was invited by my friend. Nick's family is so great. They love Nick so much, and I just want to ask that you lead Nick's family through this stuggle of Nick's recovery. He has come so so far. Please keep working in his life. You are the ultimate healer. Please give Nick movement to his left leg. I am sure it would devastate him to not be able to walk ever again. He is such a great guy. Even though I have never met him in person. I feel like I have known him forever. He has been such a blessing to my life and many other people. He has touched my heart, and I want to life him and his family up to you. Encourage their hearts. Give them undying faith that you will heal him. He is such a good guy, Lord. Not to mention a devoted Christian. You used him as a miracle to show the world. You are awesome, Lord. Thank you so much. In Your mighty name I pray. AMEN

Hi, Nick.

I'm a chaplain at WWU and have been so blessed by your family and you.  Your story of healing has not only been a testament to what God can do in an injury like yours but also how he can work healing in those around and so close to such tragedy.  Seeing the fear, confusion, tears, hope, joy, prayers, and faith of your friends and family have been so healing to my spirit.  You and your "crew" are a testimony--truly a testimony--on a bright hill.  Thanks for the life you live and the courage you show, day in and out, man.

Sincerely,
Troy Ahrens

Dear Nick,

In the past few months, we have left occassional notes for your folks in hopes that someday, they would be able to share them with you, but as we continue to read the updates every 3 days, we now rejoice that we can send you a note personally and that you are now able to join in all of our joy! What a miracle to have you back and what an incredible family you have that have been so good at sharing with all of us of your progress.  God truly has great plans for you in the very fact that you have survived this accident.  We continue to pray many times a day for you and are thrilled with your progress.    Your Friends, Bruce, Val, Ryan (Kelowna, B.C.) and Rhonda Prokopetz(Walla Walla College)

Hello Nick,

When I hear that you might be going to St. Lukes, it gives me great hopes.  Just as my wife and I moved to the Walla Walla Valley in 2001, my mother-in-law was paralyzed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a temporary paralysis nicknamed "French Polio".  They flew her from St. Mary's Med Center to Deaconess in Spokane to save her life since her lungs were paralyzed, too.  If her heart had paralyzed, she would have died, of course, but it stopped short of her heart and face, so even on a ventilator, she could blink her eyes in response.

Well, once her nerves were reconnected (brain to muscle), she was still "paralyzed" from disuse.  Everything, from lungs to finger muscles, had to grow stronger.  They gave her a tracheotomy for breathing assistance so now she could mouth words.  (Amazingly, four out of her six children could read her lips!  They became her life-line to the nursing and care staff.)

Once all that was in place, she was transferred to St. Lukes.  They gave extraordinary help.  Sometimes she felt like she was back in boot-camp (She was in the Army as a nurse asistant during WW II.) But they persisted and she slowly, slowly regained mobility.

After St. Lukes, she returned to the Valley at Regency at the Park and began to walk more.  After Regency, she came to her own home, where we lived with her, and for the first time fed herself.

And she's still with us now at age 90!  Still in her home.

I am thrilled with your recovered ability to speak with your family.  What a blessing.  I will continue to pray that good changes will continue.  May St. Luke's prove to be a very special time of your life - and nobody will need to lip-read for you!

I just want to thank you again for continuing the reports about Nick. I haven't missed a single one since the accident and I LOVE hearing about the amazing progress God is making in his rehabilitation. Even when I'm out on the road recruiting for WWU, I receive the emails on my phone and read the updates. It's especially fun to go to UCA and read the updates on my phone and then see them posted up in the library as well. Nick has an amazing extended family there and many other places as well! You are continually in my prayers. Keep your heads up and your eyes on Christ. ~Melissa MacPhee

Hello!

Because of some major dussruptions in our lives, I haven't checked on Nick's progress for about three weeks. But I can say it was very exciting to get the latest report--he's talking now!  My whole family asks me how Nick is doing, and many of my friends from church are also praying for him.  Sometime I hope we can meet your family.

Just wanted to let you know that you're not forgotten, even by strangers!

    Hi Nick-
I've been reading all the updates from your parents and I know that it's been a slow process but hang in there.  God is clearly not done with using you.  You are constantly in my prayers.

    -4/28/2008 11:19:55 PM
    Oh Nick!

It is wonderful to hear that you are starting to eat and talk and are doing so much better!!  I praise God that you have healed thus far and that you keep improving.  I won't forget those days spent at the hospital with your family and the moments at your bedside praying for you. One night I was there late and the nurses let me stay past visitor hours and I was at a lost as to what to say and so I stood in the room and sang for a couple of hours while keeping your hands relaxed.  It is wonderful to hear that you are now beyond leaps and bounds better.  I can't wait to be able to see you once you are well enough to travel.  You will be sorely missed at Alumni Weekend. We are all praying for you constantly. Don't loose sight of the light at the end of the tunnel. Hold onto God and hope. We all love you and miss you severly.
    -4/28/2008 11:17:09 PM
Dear friends I have never met! I'm sure you get many of these kinds of messages. (I am friends with the sweet Howard family and heard about Nick's accident through them.) I signed up to received the updates and after reading the latest one (#77) I just had to write.

PRAISE THE LORD! Nick can actually talk (besides many other things)! But he can actually communicate with you! How can anyone ever doubt that God still works miracles? God is so good. He has brought your family so far. You have been firm in God's trust. You inspire me! Even during those first countless updates of no change, you held onto God's promises of healing and of His miracles. Keep strong! Keep up your faith! God has been listening all along. I am so encouraged. I can't get the smile off my face.

    Dear Father,

We praise you and thank you for looking after your son Nick. Thank you for giving strength to his parents and his family for not giving up on him. What a testimony they are to Your power and grace. Continue to strengthen them. Keep your hand of healing over Nick. May he know that You are always with him no matter what his condition. Thank you for always being there for us.

    Hey Nick,

You don't know us but we know your dad and mom. You have been added to our personal prayer list and our Bible study prayer list.

It is going to take you a long time to read all your e-mails and prayers that have been sent and offered on your behalf. We are sure that will be time well spent for it will represent an answer to our prayers.

You are under the care of the Great Physician that has never lost a case yet! Hang in there.

    In Christ's Love,

Steve and Karen Nicola & Rio Lindo Academy Study Group

    p.s.  Guy and Debby,

Our God is the same God who delivered The Three Hebrew Worthies from the firey furnace, Daniel from the lion's den, kept Jonah alive in the belly of a great fish for an all expense paid weekend of 3 day and 3 nights. The same God who raised Lazurus back to life and also did a few thousand other remarakable miracles while here on earth. I'm happy to report that our God is still in business and is still working miracles even today.

    Happy Sabbath,

    Steve Nicola

Our family have never met your family, we live far away in Maitland, Australia but we pray daily for you all. Our church prayer group also prays daily for you all. We keep the prayer group updated via the email updates you send. We rejoice over each new development. We are looking forward to the day Nick and the rest of the family share the testimony of this journey to recovery. You will all have to give your testimony on 3abn so the rest of the world can hear of this amazing story that we are currently reading about on the updates. Guy and Debby...you have been incredible witnesses to the sustaining grace of God in such a traumatic time in your family's life. We pray for you all. The Collier family

Dear Guy, Debby, Nick and Family,

For the past 3 months, we have followed your story step by step.  Thank you again for allowing all of us to be able to share in your grief, and in your joy.  We also praise God that you have come through those 3 months which  you will never have to repeat again.  And through it all, you have caused God's name to SHINE brilliantly as you witness for Him.  We continue to look forward to your note every 3 days and smile along with you as we can almost imagine Nick with his hacky sack and also for his attepts to sing along at worship.  What a blessing! We will continue to Pray without ceasing.  Our Love, Bruce, Val, Rhonda and Ryan Prokopetz

I never met you (Nick), but I just wanted to say that hearing of this tragic event nearly brought me to tears & I am fervently praying for your family, friends, & acquantances...but especially you! I've seen God bring people back to good health when the doctor's thought the patient would die in the next 5 minutes (my uncle is a living example of that!) & I KNOW HE IS RESTORING YOU!!! God bless & love you guys!!!!!!!!!!

How sweet the sunshine after rain,
And sweet the rest that follows pain,
But sweeter far His face to see,
The Son of God who died for me.

But not until He calls me home,
No, not till then will I behold
The Saviour who did die for me,
And bore my sins on Calvary.

He suffered, bled and died alone,
Alone, alone for you and me,
Could I for shame reject such love,
      A sacrifice from God above?

    I do accept His sacrifice,
Will serve Him now for evermore.
For only such a Friend as he,
Could pardon, cleanse and make me free.

If you receive His pardoning grace,
You'll meet Him yonder face to face,
And have a home in Heaven above
Where all is joy and peace and love.

Then when around God's throne we meet
And lowly bow at Jesus' feet,
A song of praise we'll ever sing
To Christ, our Saviour, Lord and King
    .

    Hello Maniscalcos,

Even though we can't visit you everyday, like we did when Nick was in Walla Walla, we want you to know that we daily lift your family up in prayer. I love a quote in 5T "Now is the time to lay hold of our Arm of Strength...Prayer moves the Arm of Omnipotence." God is working. Our family hopes to get up to CDA the end of April.  We will definately stop by for a visit. I have a story to share when we get there. You are an encouragement to so many people as we all witness your steadfast gaze upon the Great Healer. He is faithful. It is our privilege and blessing to be the same. Doug, Twila, Jordan and Shayla

When first found out about your accident i was speechless. Last week I spoke at a Youth Church, I told them about my friend, i told them about you. I hope soon you'll be able to read all this "faith" that is on the site. The faith I see through your freinds and family is the type that moves mountains! Though I'm all th way out here in the Philippines, And i know that I'll be chatting with you soon bro.

    See you soon!

    -4/4/2008 11:01:42 AM

    Nick-

I was thinking about you today. I just can't seem to get you out of my head... it's like God's telling me to pray extra hard for you today. It's so exciting that you get to go home soon! I bet your whole family is exstatic.

I can't help but think about all the fun times we had together. From all the way back in Pathfinder days (remember that time we had to dress up like clowns with Levi for that skit at the teen retreat?) to all the great times at UCA(like that time Laura and I spent the night at your house). I want to thank you for being the amazing person that you are. You bring so much joy into the hearts of others... we'd be so lost without you.

The amount of people praying for you is incredible... we're so glad God is keeping you here with us. Be strong Nick.

    Hello Family,

My husband and I have been praying for Nick, as well as his parents, since the news came about his accident.

No, we don't know each other, but of course, that does not matter. What matters is that we have a God who know the end from the beginning, who knows our sincere prayers for each other, and who will hear our prayers and answer them in His time. I believe He is answering them right now, because Nick is making improvements. Little steps right now, but on the right road to recovering.

Our prayers will continue until Nick wakes up, takes charge, and can tell us what he went through all this time. God IS love, and hears our petitions for each other. Praise the Lord we serve such a wonderful God.

Keep the faith, Guy and Debby--we are praying for you, especially, as you go through such atrying time.!  God will sustain you through your faith.

And thank you for the updates. We eagerly look forward to them, and wait for that final one that says--Nick's awake!

Dear Father, Our Friend in Heaven,

Thank you so much for hearing each and every one of the thousands of prayers that continue to be sent up on behalf of Nick and his family as evidenced by the progress that continues.  And Lord, thank you so much for your foresight in knowing that at times, we would yearn to pray beyond our human language limitations. You gave us the promise that at the times when we don't even know what we should pray, nor how to pray as we should, that Your Spirit will come to our rescue and pray for us with such feeling, that it cannot be expressed in words, and that You, the Father, who knows all hearts, will understand what we are trying to say as the Spirit pleads for us in harmony with your will.  So Lord, in our feeble words, we continue to come before you and uplift Nick, Guy, Debby, and their family, and long for your healing power to enter into Nick and restore his body, mind and spirit, so that he and his family can be a powerful evidence as to your awesome power. We place this request at your feet knowing that your plan will always have the best outcome.  So where we can't see, we praise you for your eternal plan at just the right time in just the right way.  Our Love and Prayers, The Prokopetz Family

    Dear Father in Heaven,
I want to lift up my friends the Maniscalcos to You this morning. Please be near them and especially Nick. Give them courage, strength and recovery. May what happens today be a testimony to Your restoring power. May Your name be praised through Nick and his life. Thank you for hearing and answering according to Your will and timing. Truly You do make all things beautful in Your time.
    In Jesus name, Amen

Nick We love to get your updates. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers always...One of these days we will read that you are healed and we look forward to that day! God has a plan for you and we know that His plans for our lives are not always our plans, but we trust in Him and we know He will take care of us in our darkest times. We love you and pray for your healing in His time! We will never stop praying and trusting in Him!

Nick, I miss being able to see you! I am glad that you are with your family, it's better to be close to home, but I'm slightly jealous. I'll be home on Friday and I'll stop by your place on the way back. I'll have your blanket done by then so you'll have something exciting to look at...well, maybe not exciting, but at least bright. :)

Chelsea said that she's been asked to write an article about you for the Collegian. (One more newspaper for you to be in). I'm writing a piece for the Mt. Ash (our Yearbook) and they got pictures of Ben, Jenny and Patchett wearing their shirts to go with it. I'll have to read you what I wrote...when I get it finished. hehe

Anyway, I should go and finish studying for my History final, but I just wanted to let you know that I love you and I can't wait to see you again, I've been going nuts down here, it seems like it's been so long since I saw you last. I hear you're looking a lot better. I'm expecting you to say Hi when I get to your room on Friday...or at least do some of this lip moving that I've heard so much about. Take care, I'm praying for you!!!!!!!!

Father In Heaven, We continue to praise You for the sustenance you have brought to Nick since the wreck. Thank You for the healing that is being wrought within his body, even though we cannot see it from the outside. We know that it is all in Your hands. We ask You Holy angels to surround Nick and those caring for his needs. Bless each one with wisdom to know Your will and courage to do it! Continue to hold NIck in Your loving arms and bless him with strength and healing. Bless his parents to know what steps to take next as far as where he will go as of March 30. I pray that Nick might "wake up!" and be restored to health for Your glory and honor. It is in Jesus Name we ask these things, knowing that You have a thousand ways in which to answer just one of our prayers, AMEN!

Dear Lord, We are so thankful that your mercy and kindness toward us is so abundant. We are also thankful that your sustaining power continues to be proven daily. Lord, you know this families pain, and you know our many prayers. Lord do something miraculous. Show your power to heal and to save. We lift up Nick and ask for a ounce of your healing power to penetrate his body and restore him whole. We love you and this we are confident in....Matt 21: 22 says, "Whatsoever things you ask in prayer, BELEIVING, ye shall receive"....so with hearts full of thanks, and prayers full of belief, we ask for your healing hand on Nick. Thank you Father, In Jesus' name, AMEN! Bellamy Patterson from: Portland, OR

Thank you so much for the nightly "updates" on Nick.  You've been such a blessing to us (and a witness to many) to watch how your family has dealt with this tragedy.  Your faith and trust in God is encouraging.  We continue to pray for Nick each day and for you and Matt and Melina.  We just pray, along with you, that the Lord will see fit to restore Nick to health soon and that he will wake up completely.   It is exciting that his trach is out now!  One thing at a time - one day at a time...  Blessings to you.  Love, Denise & John Moore

    Nick,

I've been thinking about you today.  Everyday I hear little bits of information about your recovery.  Keep fighting.  We're praying for you.

Nick, it's been almost a month since you left Walla Walla, and I miss seeing you. I continue to pray everyday for God to be with you, give you stength, and continue to heal you. I always smile and thank God everytime I hear good news or signs of your progress. I have friends around the country who are praying for you and rooting for you as well. Keep fighting Nick! God HAS plans for you! ~ Chris Patchett

Good evening Family and Friends of Nick,

My Wife and I think so much of what God has given you all.  The wisdom knowledge and ability to disply such a website as this.  It makes it so easy to feel so close to some one I personally did not know.  My wife and I will continue to pray for each of you, and for Nick, God is ever so close to Him.

    Blessings, Mitch and Lisa

    -3/10/2008 1:44:53 PM

Nick, we pray for you two three times a day, and follow your progress from your Dad's daily report.  We can't wait for you to wake up and find out how much you are loved by God and by thousands of people.  We know you keep trying very hard, even though you don't have control over a whole lot of things.  Your will to live and get well touch us and inspire us a lot; and several people have told us how your situation has inspired their teens and turned them to seek God once again.  See, you are already doing God's work while you are recuperating, and we know it will be even more powerful when God finishes healing your brain and let you wake up and testify for Him.  We pray that according to God's will that you will be healed completely and soon.

Guy and Debbie, we think of you and pray for you daily also.  It can't be easy to be patient and keep the faith all the time.  And yet your consistent faith and thankful spirit inspire us all.  Our sabbath school class continue to pray for you and Nick.  We pray that God's grace continues to bear your up and strengthen you, so that your faith is as pure gold tried in fire.  Thanks for witnessing to us through your daily reports.

We love your all, Bill, Sally and Leah Meyerholtz

    Dear family of Nick

I did not know Nick personally until I met him during the fall when he visited Portland for a weekend of skiing with his friends.  He and the other "boys" a total of five in all stayed at our home.  My daughter Laura had known Nick and the others from UCA and had offered our home for the guys for the weekend as their previous sleeping arrangements had fallen through.  I spoke with Nick for a short time about his goals in life and what he was doing then.  He was a considerate, fun house guest and all seven of us had a nice time (although I banished myself most of the time out of the kids way.)  I remember teasing Nick about his bringing a small amount of spaghetti and a can of sauce for the guys.  But for 4 guys they even had some left over.  I did enjoy getting to know Nick for a brief time and was quite disturbed about his accident.  I'm thankful for the updated website as this is a way for our family at home to follow Nick's progress.  Nick is on the prayer list of many of our family and friends despite the fact that they do not know him personally.  We continue to keep Nick and his family in our daily prayers.  I believe that he is alive for a purpose and we continue to pray for his healing and strength for his family.   It was a pleasure to meet Nick and remember his warm smile and the fun they all had that brief weekend in our home.  God be with you all.

What a great joy to see you all in church.  But a great big hole in my heart that one member of your family was missing today.  I know that when God says it is the right time for Nick, he also will be back in church with his family. Matt, what a great sermon today, i believe you touched everyones heart today.  God bless you and your family.

    To Nick and his family:
We have followed your story and we pray for you regularly. Our 19 year old sparrow fell to the ground in a motorcycle accident December 2006 and we will have to wait until Jesus returns to see his beautiful smile again. It will not be long until all things are perfectly restored; until we see the tapestry the Lord is weaving from His side and by sight know that He doeth all things well. Meanwhile we may, moment by moment, live by faith. By ever deepening dependence upon and growing knowledge of our Lord, though the painful trials He permits, but carries us through. God's timing is perfect and He has a plan for Nick, and for you his family... We may trust in Him. This is certainly not heaven here, but what trials we go through here, will, when we do get to heaven, be hard to recall in the light and glory of that place and in seeing Jesus' face!
I know God gives you special grace and this is an encouragement and a witness to others. As we have less to stand on in this world, the cord from let down from above gets thicker. We may rest in His perfect love.

What a page for bonding!  We're all hanging in here with you, Guy and Debby!  We all relive bits of our lives and the pain we've seen others go through.  I'd like to add to the earlier note from Cheri on the 3rd.  Cheri and I hiked mountains together at Mt Ellis in the 70's and her car accident in '84 was devastating to all of us--like Nick's!  Seeing Cheri go the wheelchair route and all the depressing times was so hard!!  (If you read this, Cheri, please contact me at cherleiske@adelphia.net--or anyone who has contact info on Cheri please email it to me.)  We're a big family with a lot of love and heaven's getting bombarded right now with the "sweet savor" of heartfelt prayers!

What can I say, i met Nick when he was a funny, enthusiastic kid? If it's possible to polite and rambunctious all at once that's the Nick I know.  I've talked to my pastor here in Montrose Colorado and Montrose and Orchard Valley churches have been praying for Nick.  So you have a whole spectrum of loving people praying for Nick and they'll continue doing that!

Me in particular, my heart goes out to Nick, Guy, Deb and the family, I certainly love you guys and look forward to Nick getting well.

    Nick,
Our family is praying for you, as is the Wilson SDA School here in Wilson, MI. The students in Scott's class have a "Praise and Prayer Board" and your name is on that board as someone they are praying for. There is also a "Prayers Answered" part of that board - we are anxious to put your name in that space! I am also praying for both of you, Debby and Guy, for strength and patience. Love you! Arni

The Brockman family is still praying for you Nick!  We want to be able to come see you and talk to you real soon.  Keep the faith Debby abd Guy.  You two are amazeing.  May the lord bless and comfort you today and always.

Nick, you and your whole family is in my prayer everytime. Christy

First of all I thank you for the updates on Nick daily.  We are very dedicated in reading them every night and praying for Nick every night along with telling our freinds at work the updates.  Your strength has amazed us through this whole process and you are a light that shines for our Lord.  Thank you for that.  God knows the time and place and I praise Him for the healing so far.  Love your freinds in Christ Gloria and Andy Brito ( and Elijah David and Ashley)

My dad (Patrick Sorentino's brother) told me about the accident and I just wanted to let you know Nick is my prayer's as are all of you during this trying time.

    -3/5/2008 8:37:25 AM

    Nick,

I read about your progress everyday and share your story with everybody at work.  Luckily for me and our community, everybody I work with is a Christian and you are in the prayers of so many wonderful people.  I know you're working hard to wake up Nick.  I know that glorious day will happen for you, your loving family and all your friends.  Keep up your hard work Nick.  With God's help, I know I'll be sitting in church one day listening to you give your testimony.  Much love, The Melgaard Family

    -3/4/2008 1:37:19 PM
I want to encourage you all to keep up your faith. I think it's amazing how much faith and the amount of patience that your family has. I remember the first time my mom went into ICU and they thought she wouldn't make it, but she did. She was in coma for about 2 1/2 weeks or so and it was a very scary process, I can only imagine what your going through. I went to LCJA my 6th and 7th grade year, and  I remember meeting you guys for what was called "clark kent night" and we went all around doing crazy things and nick was a part of it. He seems like a very fun, outgoing, kind, and caring kid. I look forward to being able to meet him. I hear constantly from teachers and friends here at UCA how involved he was UCA and how he was a big part of UCA. We pray in every class and with our classmates all the time for Nick. Stay strong and God Bless. You guys are truly an inspiration to us all. Tell Nick that everyone here at UCA can't wait to see him again :).
    -3/4/2008 6:32:57 AM

Our Prayers continue with each morning for Nick and the whole familly

may god keep you in the palm of his hand always.

    -3/3/2008 8:59:36 PM

I don't know Nick, but I have a college-age son and can only imagine the deep anguish and pain you are going through as you watch him lying there so still and hope for some sign of awareness.  May the God of all comfort (II Cor. 1:3,4) bring peace and comfort to your hearts and healing as He deems best.  Just a note about healing-- I was paralyzed from a car accident in 1984 and have been in a wheelchair since then.  God didn't physically heal me, although many prayers for that miracle were sent on my behalf.  I found the door with the big question sign that asks WHY? to be locked tight. But the door that says “My grace is sufficient for you” was and continues to be wide open. Over all these years God's unfailing love, care and healing embrace has been wrapped around me.  And so I encourage you to hold onto Him come what may.  He will never fail you. In closing I want to share with you part of this beautiful quote. “Through all our trials we have a never-failing Helper. He does not leave us alone to struggle with temptation, to battle with evil, and be finally crushed with burdens and sorrow. Though now He is hidden from mortal sight, the ear of faith can hear His voice saying, “Fear not; I am with you. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever!" Rev. 1:18. I have endured your sorrows… I know your tears; I also have wept. The griefs that lie too deep to be breathed into any human ear, I know. Think not that you are desolate and forsaken… look unto Me, and live. DA 483  Love & Prayers, Cheri

Dear Father:  We know that you are the author of healing and that you long for Nick to be whole just as we do.  We trust that you will heal Nick in Your way and in Your time.  You have promised that all things work together for good for those who love You, so, Father, we are believing that You are going to bring good even out of this trauma.  You are able to turn tragedy into triumph and we pray for that.  Continue to support and encourage Nick's family and friends, and enable them to be strong in faith.  We praise You Father because nothing is too hard for You and because Your infinite love is so enduring.  Especially bless Guy and Debbie and Mat and Melina and bring them Your mighty peace and comfort.  Thank You.  Susan

    Dear Nick and family,
None of you know me. I am Jeff Gilbert's great-aunt.  Russ, Jeff's dad, emailed me to pray for Nick.  You all have been and are in my prayers.  I can relate to your waiting to a degree.  I had a stroke back the first of May.  It affected my right side. I am able to walk with a cane now, but I'm still waiting for my arm to get some function back.  I have so much to be thankful for, though, my mind is good.  It is difficult though because I'm right handed.  Switching to left handed is not easy.  My prayers are wiih you and Nick.
    Dear God
We know how precious Nick and his family are to You.  Sustain them through this very difficult time.  We ask for Nick's full recovery very soon according to Your time.
We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers.
    We love You, Lord.

I am so sorry to read of this tragedy. I hope that he wakes up to a full recovery soon. I do have a question. HAs he woken up yet? I ask because you said that he moves his head and sits up. I can't imagine that if he is not awake. Of course I have no experience with something of this nature. I will continue to pray he wakes up SOON!

Good morning Nick and Happy Sabbath, Nick you and your family are greatly missed at church.  Dear Lord, you can see the beginning from the end and you know what is best for Nick.  Lord if it be your will, we ask that you would heal Nick in your time. Bring comfort to Guy, Debby, Matt, and Melina. Let them feel your peace on this special day. Amen
    -3/1/2008 9:59:49 AM

    Dear Father in Heaven,

On this Sabbath morning I lift up my friend Nick up to you again. Lord, please give Nick a blessed Sabbath. May he experience recovery and healing. Touch his family as well. Give them a real assurance of your presence and support. Thank you for your continued watch care. Please keep touching and awakening Nick. Push the forces of darkness far from his camp. May Your will be done in Nick's life as it is in heaven. In Jesus and through His merits, I pray. Amen.

Dear Jesus, I know that you are a very real and live God. I know that you love us so much that came and died for us. Please give Guy and Debby a sense of peace, and love that only You can give them. I ask special Sabbath blessings on Nick. Give him a special rest to heal and recover. Fill his room with your peace. Let Guy and Debby, friends and family feel your reassurance. As nurses and doctors walk in Nick's room tonight and tomorrow, let them know that something is special. Give them clear minds and good judgement as they continue to care for Nick. Amen
    -2/29/2008 3:53:47 AM
Dear Heavenly Father,  You are our Creator God and it is comforting to know that You know the end from the beginning.  It is sometimes hard for us to be patient, but we put our faith and trust in You.  You know that we all want Nick to be restored to health, but all according to Your will and timing.  We ask again for You to intervene as You see best - in Your time, Lord.  Until then, please encourage Guy and Debby as well as Matt and Melina.  Keep them close to You and let them feel Your presence and Your great love for them - each and every day.  Thank you for Jesus and for the promise of eternal life.  Amen
    -2/27/2008 9:16:12 PM

    Dear God

I pray that you will please be with nick and his family. Lord you know the pain that they are going through right now. You also know what is best for him and I pray that whatever happens that we all know that you are in control. You are the one who put nick on this earth lord and you know how much all his family and friends love him. Lord you are "The Great Healer" and Lord once again I ask you to please be with Nick and his family and let them see you presence.

Hi, Guy and Debby: I guess you are the ones I knew for a short time while I was at Hayden before Vi died, I will try to remember to pray for Nick. I never knew him or his family. Was his grandfather the artist? My present wife knew that family at PUC.

Jeanie and I live in Desert Hot Springs, CA. We have a little 21' RV, so we leave for the four hot months in the summer, and visit our children and grand and great grandchildren.

Because of the terrible stress I went through for seven and a half weeks before Vi died, my right thumb started shaking, then my arm, and went on to become Parkinsons. I, also, developed gastritis, and I didn't go to a doctor about that, I just ate Tums. So when I did go, it had developed into other problems. I am 82, but still able to golf. Vi got me started in that.

Tell others hello for me, Peter Tadej

I thought that if Nick  is able to hear or at least when he can this page from Dr. Chambers would be an encouragement for him.

"Out of the Wreck I Rise"

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" (Romans 8:35).

God does not keep His child immune from trouble; He promises, "I will be with him in trouble …" (Psalm 91:15). It doesn’t matter how real or intense the adversities may be; nothing can ever separate him from his relationship to God. "In all these things we are more than conquerors …" (Romans 8:37). Paul was not referring here to imaginary things, but to things that are dangerously real. And he said we are "super-victors" in the midst of them, not because of our own ingenuity, nor because of our courage, but because none of them affects our essential relationship with God in Jesus Christ. I feel sorry for the Christian who doesn’t have something in the circumstances of his life that he wishes were not there.

"Shall tribulation …?" Tribulation is never a grand, highly welcomed event; but whatever it may be—whether exhausting, irritating, or simply causing some weakness—it is not able to "separate us from the love of Christ." Never allow tribulations or the "cares of this world" to separate you from remembering that God loves you (Matthew 13:22).

"Shall … distress …?" Can God’s love continue to hold fast, even when everyone and everything around us seems to be saying that His love is a lie, and that there is no such thing as justice?

"Shall … famine …?" Can we not only believe in the love of God but also be "more than conquerors," even while we are being starved?

Either Jesus Christ is a deceiver, having deceived even Paul, or else some extraordinary thing happens to someone who holds on to the love of God when the odds are totally against him. Logic is silenced in the face of each of these things which come against him. Only one thing can account for it—the love of God in Christ Jesus. "Out of the wreck I rise" every time.

I only know Nick through the many people in our church who know him but check on his progress daily and send updates to prayer chains through my family's churches.  You are all in our prayers and thoughts and we lift you up to God for continued strength and understanding in a situation that brings confusion, fear and tears.
    -2/27/2008 1:21:02 AM
Heavenly Father, what an awesome God you are.  I believe in miracles, and precious Father i know that you can create miracles.  If it is your will please restore Nick to his happy, fun-loving person. Please give the Maniscalco's comfort, and peace, and never falter in their faith in you. Amen
    -2/26/2008 8:59:53 PM

    Maniscalco Family,

But they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

WE are still praying that Nick will soon be healed if it is God's will. He has promised us that if we ask in His name He will answer our prayers. We ask God to heal Nick and to make him whole in His time. We will not stop praying for Nick and you his family! WE love you and pray for you daily!

    Dear Maniscalcos,

I've been keeping up with the updates posted at WWU. I can't imagine the situation on a personal level, but I do know what it's like to have someone you love bed-ridden with a trachiotomy and unable to eat solid food, and I do know that God will finish what He's started. I'm so glad that you are taking this so unselfishly, to be able to say that maybe there may be just one person out there who will come to God because of this. That is so unselfish and trusting, and it awes me. I want to be like that, too.

I don't think I've actually met Nick yet, but I am a friend of his friend Mitch, and any friend of Mitch's is definitely a friend of mine. I want you to know that in spite of my not knowing Nick, I am praying for him, too.

    -2/26/2008 3:50:35 PM
No one can know what you are going through right now but I can see that the faith you have in God must be helping you through this tragic time. So many people are praying for your son and for your family even if we don't know who you are outside of this situation. May God bless you and perform any great miracle your son requires. Being a new parent myself I can't imagine watching my child in this condition but there must be flocks of angels surrounding you to keep your heads held high. Thank you for being an inspiration to parents and fellow believers (or unbelievers) all around! Perhaps there is someone watching from outside who will glimpse God's love through your courage. The world could use more people like you! What would we do without hope? It's really what gets us through the awful times and helps to remind us that this world is not our final destination!
    Blessings and prayers!

    Dear God

Please be with Guy and Debby because they need wisdom and faith to deal with the hurt and pain that there are going through right know. God I knew nick for 2 years and I am hurt to.

    Dear Maniscalco Family,

I found out about Nick through my sister, Tirzah, who currently attends Walla Walla. Since I've been told about his accident I have asked my church, in Gilroy California, to keep him in prayer every week. I have also kept my church updated on his condition from the emails that you periodically send. Although I don't know him, we are all a family in Christ. God is the "Great Healer" and we need to keep that faith that what God does is for his names sake. My church will continue to pray for Nick and wait upon the day that he is fully recovered to rejoice in the Lord.

    God Bless You.

    Dear Maniscalco Family,

I am praying for you guys but especially for Nick. That the Lords will might be done.  I have recently been through a medical crisis in my life, though not near as traumatic, it was very life threatening.  I am a testimony of God's power to answer prayer. I hope to meet you and Nick sometime if not here on this earth in heaven. My prayers are with you. God Bless!

Nick, my brother, I'm constantly thinking and praying about you. We had a bunch of good times as classmates at UCA. As I said above, God definitely has plans for you. Keep fighting! Can't wait to see you awake once again. ~ Chris Patchett
    -2/16/2008 5:01:07 PM
Hey Nick, Just letting you know that all of us here in Walla Walla are continuing to pray for your healing. We are sad to see you go to Idaho because now it is a bit harder to stop by and visit with you, but we know it's for the better. You've always been a fighter (in a good way of course) and have always worked hard to do the right thing. When I saw you on Thursday, I realized even more how much of a fighter you are. God has big plans for you! Period. If He didn't, I'm sure there are plenty of reasons why you wouldn't be here with us today. God has a bright future for you and He knows what He's doing. We have all put you in His hands. I can see how hard you are trying to pull through. Don't give up! We're here for you, and God has you in His hands. "But they that wait upon the LORD SHALL! renew their strength; they SHALL! mount up with wings as eagles; they SHALL! run, and NOT be weary; and they SHALL! walk, and NOT faint." ~ Isaiah 40:31. You've got this Nick. All of us can't wait to see you smiling and laughing again. May the Lord be with you and continue to bless, strengthen, and heal you from this day forward.
    -2/16/2008 5:01:07 PM
Thank you Father for bringing Nick back to Post Falls safely. Now help us to share Your love with him and his family.

Hey Maniscalco family- I am praying for you guys and for Nick. May Jesus continue to provide strength, encouragement, direction, and hope. Much love- Dustin Billington

I've watched a miracle here in Boise of a friends daughter with a head injury go from comatose for it seems like an eternity to now she is at home with her family. She has residual problems and probably brain damage, but I thank the Lord for her constant improvement. I pray for Nick to also heal and with time to improve. May he show the signs his family needs to see there is hope as we all have hope everyday. Thank you Lord for giving us what we have and for the opportunities to help and for the moments we have to share with our friends and families. Amen
    -2/16/2008 5:01:07 PM
Hello to Nick and family. My family and I are praying for you daily. And all of us here at Mount Ellis Academy in Montana are praying for you too. My name is Kaytie Knight. My Grandma, Joann Haven, is a friend of Nick's grandparents, and my cousin went to school with Nick at UCA. God bless! We'll all keep praying for Nick's healing and for all of your strength and trust in Him. Love and prayers.
    -2/16/2008 5:01:07 PM
Dear Jesus, We are all hear on this globe that you have made for us and some of us know why we are here and some don't. Nick is one of your children that shines like a light for others. Please do not let that light go out. People need him here and he needs to be here as well. Breath your spirit into him so he can live again. Amen. Your bro in Christ, Adam.

Dear Father God, We lift up the beautiful life of Nick before you right now. We acknowledge and realize that You are the great healer, sustainer and provider of all that is good and perfect. You formed Nick and knit him into a perfect child for the purpose of bringing You honor and glory throughout his life. Father, his life has just begun on planet earth and as we recall our cherished memories of his vibrant, enthusiastic witness for your kingdom we implore You to bring about healing and restoration within a body that is suffering and in pain right now. We ask this not for selfish purposes but for your honor and glory. Nicks healing testimony will thrill hearts of your compassion, love and healing power and thus hasten your anticipated kingdom. We pray for our precious Maniscalco family. Give them courage and faith to trust in your will as they spend hour after hour at Nicks side looking for the faintest sign and glimmer of hope. Oh Father God, give them peace and trust in Your omniscient will as they go through this experience. Help them know that the results of this experience will be immensely rewarded and that the outcome of this test of faith will be more precious than gold. Right now we pray that You will give them the assurance that Nick's name is recorded in the Book of Life. Give each family member peace knowing that they can trust whatever your will is and that if for whatever reason, you do not heal Nick that all of us will soon be reunited with Nick, soon, made whole, perfect and immortal. May this experience impress each family member and each one of us to daily commit our lives anew to You, realizing the brevity of our own lives on this sinful planet. May the result of this experience also encourage each of us to allow nothing in our lives that would prevent us from being ready for your soon return and be there on that day when we will enjoy fellowship with Nick again. We anticipate that day when we will not only be with Nick but You, Jesus, who knows what it's like to experience excruciating pain and to suffer that we may live again. How we long for that day when we will experience the reality of being in Your heavenly Kingdom, falling at your feet in thanksgiving and eating of the Tree of Life in the heavenly realms of glory. It will be then that we will understand the whys and will look back and realize we would not have wanted it any other way. Oh to have that kind of trust takes a faith that we pray we all have as we face the uncertain days ahead. How thankful we are that we can leave Nick's life in your hands, Father. Give Nick and all of us peace and rest on your holy Sabbath day is our prayer. Amen We love you, Del and Bonnie

In the name of Christ, the Great Physician, I pray that Nick will be touched and healed from his severe wounds. Give him comfort in recuperation. May the doctors be filled with knowledge of what treatments to use. May his family put their complete trust in God Who makes all things possible. We don't often understand nor can we comprehend why things happepn as they do. But may all concerned accept God's promise in Romans 8:28: "All things work together for good to them that love God, who are the called according to His purpose..." In Jesus' name, Amen. -Ethelene Jones, Georgia, USA

Dear Father, Once again I lift up Nick, Guy, Debbie, Matt and Melina. You know that I talk to you about them often. It is not because I don't believe that you are working in their lives to bring the good you promise, but because it comforts me to talk to you about them. Thank you for all the providences you have sent regarding Nick's care. Thank you for all you are doing, and all you plan to do. It is our desire that Nick be completely restored, to be the young man he was before all of this happened. We realize that everything happens for a reason. Your ways are far beyond our ways. You have a higher purpose than we ever think or dream for everything that happens here on Earth. Please continue to comfort those that are waiting to see your Plan work out. Please strengthen Nick every day. Please return everyone back to North Idaho safely soon. Thank you again for all you do. Your love is beyond measure. Amen Sue Anderson

Oh God, I commit Nick into your hands today. Father I can't even ask you the unanimous question of "Why?" but I choose to trust in you and that there are reasons, beyond me for this tragedy. Lord we know Satan is trying however he can to strike down your people, but you have said if you are for us who dare be against us, and Lord, how dare the devil. God my prayer is the same as hundreds of other people around the world. But you of all beings know about repitition. Lord I pray, despite what the doctors say, despite what the MRI's and catscans show, despite what the x-rays reveal despite all odds God, YOU...the Great Physician, greater than all our technology, will put your loving hand over Nick and heal him. Oh God, make him whole again. God bless the hospital staff abundantly for their hospitality over him, God comfort Guy and Debbie and work your wonders oh Lord, In Jesus Precious and holy name I pray, Amen...

Father God we thank you for Nick and the plans you have for him to prosper him and not to harm him, to give him a hope and a future. We know that you are a God that heals and that it is always your will to heal because you say so in your word. Thank-you that we can go to your word and that we can stand on your word because your word never changes. The doctors say many things but it is what YOU say that matters to us and so we look to you and your word for guidance. -He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him for he acknowledges my name. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation...Psalms 91:15-16 Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivers them out of their distresses. He sends forth His wordand heals themand rescues them from the pit of destruction. Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness to the children of men. Psalms 107:19-21 Fear not for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you;yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My (victorious)right hand of rightness and justice. Isaiah 41:10 Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it. Jeremiah 1:12 We believe that what God says is true and are standing in faith with you for Nicks healing.

Father, You know the heartache that Debby, Guy, Matthew and Melina are facing day after day right now. I pray Lord that you will spread open wide your arms of love and hold each one of them during this journey that they are on. Thank you, for being in Nicks room and for all the small miracles that we have all witnessed already concerning Nick and his recovery! I pray Father for your mercy and for your perfect healing. Please, restore Nick fully and let this tragic accident remind us just how fragile our lives really are, and that we have nothing without you. You Father are the air that we breath, you are the life that lives within each one of us. Help us to give ourselves to you daily and to always be ready for your return, as we never know when tragedy may happen. Thank you Lord for second, third, fourth and infinite chances in life. Thank you for hearing everyones prayers concerning Nick and for doing all that you can to bring him back to all of his friends and family and everyone else that he may be able to reach for you. Let his life being a living testimony. Thank you, for giving us each our very own Guardian Angel. How comforting it is to know that Nick's Angel has been taking care of him ever since his car first crashed, and that he has not for even one second, been alone! You are the giver of life and I pray your will be done, in Nick's life. Please continue to hold his Mother, Father, sister and brother and give them the peace that passes all understanding. In your precious name, Amen Kristin Anderson-Edwards

Dear Father in Heaven, the Prince of Peace, the Everlasting Father, the Divine Healer... You are the One who gives, and the One who takes away. Lord, we don't always understand Your plan...but we want to trust You. Sometimes, You seem far away--like Your Father felt to You while You hung on the cross...this is one of those times for Nick's family. I don't know Nick or his family--but You do, and You can see their pain. And so Father, this prayer is a plea on their behalf--a plea that You will work out all things for good because they trust in You. You promised that You would. You are the God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness and because of that, we can be troubled on every side, yet not distressed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. Thank You for loving us--sinful, unworthy, filthy humanity--and for giving Your life that we might live. Thank You that because of that death and that glorious resurrection, we have hope for the future, happiness beyond the grave. Thank You for giving us a second chance. And Father, if it is Your will, very humbly, we ask that You restore health, strength, vigor, and hope to Nick so that he can continue to bring glory to Your name. All this we ask, in the Precious name of Jesus...Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you keep nick in your embracing arms. But don't squeeze too hard!!! I know that you love him so much. I am so thankful that you have helped him recover this far. He seems like an awesome guy. Even a little cute if I may add, but that doesn't matter cuz you don't discriminate, but you love him Lord, and we know that whatever path you lead him down it will be your will. Even though I don't know him, it feels like I know everything about him. That is just the way you work Lord. Please keep him safe from infection. His family also needs you Lord, they are clinging on to you for help. Lift them high, Lord. I love you. Thanks so much. -Amy Dianne Schlenz

Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for the blessing of Nick's life, ' that he survived this horrible accident. Now we ask that You would place Your healing hand upon him, ' especially upon his head, that he would be a living witness to Your power ' love. We believe in You as the Great Physician, Jehovah Rophe, and know that if it will glorify Your Name to heal Nick, that You will do so. We also ask that your comforting Spirit be in and around Nick's family ' friends. Give them hope ' strength. Help them to keep focused on You. We ask that Satan ' his forces would be prevented from entering into this situation. That they will not be permitted to discourage Nick's family ' friends or to hurt Nick any further. Please be Sovereign in Nick's life, Lord. We claim the promise: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer ' petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God; and the peace of God, which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Phil. 4: 6 ' 7 We ask all these things in the name of Your son, Jesus, and according to your will, and we thank You for hearing ' answering our prayer. Amen

I pray for Nick every day. You probably don't know me, but I remember Debby from Pathfinder activities when I took Dustin Horn, my son. I do not think Dustin knew Nick very well last year at UCA but we knew of him. All of these kids are God's children and I pray for them all collectively as Satan will do whatever damage he can in this world and we always need to pray for our Heavenly Father to protect them. Obviously, He was there at the accident and sustained Nick's life and breath and He is still watching over him. I think of you parents, as I know how I would ache if this were my son going thru this. I identify so closely because I have cared for patients in similar tragedies throughout my career as a nurse. I would encourage you to keep your faith in the giver of life and breath and also remind you that the road to recovery is a journey of patience. It takes a lot of calm waiting and then later, perseverence and labor of love. Keep looking to our Saviour for strength to carry you thru to each new day as we are praying for you to be sustained. Chris Horn, Dustin Horn's mother

Dear Jesus, Please be with Nick. I'm so thankful that he has come so far, but if you could just be with him and help him get over his cold that would be amazing. Becoming sick like this while your immune system is already down can be so dangerous -- please stay with him. Please bless the nurses and doctors hands so that they can bring his temperature down to a less crucial stage. Many people are worried about him. Even here in Nebraska, prayers for Nick are sent out all over the Union campus. I just pray that you will be with him and his family. Thank you for all you have done, and please continue to help Nick through this difficult time. He can make it, but only through you. I love you. Amen.
    -2/16/2008 5:01:07 PM
Father God, ultimate healer, our only hope and redeemer--please surround Nick and his family with Your angels, Your strength, Your presence. You love him more than any of us do. I pray for healing for him if that will bring You glory. You are SO ABLE to do ANYTHING You choose to do. Build our faith, Lord. Thank you for the example Guy and Deb are of what it looks like to honor and trust You through anything. May we continue to hold them up in love and encouragement. Please heal Nick's body and restore him to his family and friends in a way that will honor You. You have promised that all things are possible--we cling to Your promises because You are God, Nick's only hope. Please give Nick's medical team extra discernment, wisdom, and love for Nick, that they can be a conduit for Your healing power. We love you, and thank You for Your numerous blessings You are already bestowing on this precious family. In Jesus' name...Amen...

Dear God please do what you can to make Nick's recovery as rapid as possible. He is a good boy and it would be a shame to not have a complete recovery. I pray that you will do what is right and all that you can for him. Please God I don't ask you for much but this seems to me like an important case. Nick is going to require as much help as he can get and I'm sure you can find it in your busy schedule a way to exercise your healing powers to bring him through this. I offer this prayer for Nick as your faithful servant Bill Van Stone.

God, You know the pattern of this special kid. . .how he's watched out for and pulled in the little kids. . .how he's added his joy to following You. . .how his smile has cheered so many. We know Your power to overturn any harm to him through this accident for You are greater than he who is author of all ill to humanity!! Just wanted to say that I'm praying for you all. I know that God can heal Nick to such a capacity that it seems as though Nick was never in the accident if that is His will. Our God is an AWESOME God. I pray that if that doesn't happen, God will bring beauty come from all of your pain (as He has done for me) and bring you through this storm, with each and every person a stronger, better Christian. I don't know any of you but I wish I did. I love you and know what it's like to go through something so traumatic. I pray that God's will be done in everyone's life, but Nick's especially. May Nick be a tool that God uses to change people's life. God Bless. All my prayers, Katie in DM, IA
